March ’11 issue of Frieze: 2 good things

The current Frieze has a great essay (from a talk he delivered) by Peter Schjeldahl, the New Yorker’s art critic,  about art and writing. I thoroughly recommend it, particularly for those of us who are over some of the uglier aspects of art crit and ‘artist statements’.

Also, there is an ad’ for a show by Bethan Huws. This image was the best thing I saw in the magazine, unfortunately truncated when I avoided the glare coming off the page (I mean, it’s all there, the slant has just squished it up). Beautiful, delicate, simple and yet arresting, it holds many of the qualities Schjeldahl discusses.
